The Character of God: 2 Kings 2:23-24

2 Kings 2:23-24

23And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Many apologists try to say that these passages are taken out of context. So go look them up for yourself and you will see that the full context is represented in these two passages. Simply for mocking Elijah, God sends two bears to tear 42 children to shreds. Forget "context". Is there any situation in which this seems justified? Not to me. They didn't try to cause him bodily harm and they were children! You can argue all you want that it wasn't God that sent the bears, but what other reasonable explanation is there? Immediately after Elijah curses the children, the bears appear and kill them. Coincidence? - I think not. This is just another example of the "justice" of the Bible's "loving" god.
